Traffic Signal and Intersection Road Design Studies on the Island of Rhodes

The scope of the study concerns the preparation of a comprehensive traffic and transportation study for 27 intersections in the area of Rhodes, aiming at their functional upgrading, the enhancement of road safety, and the optimal traffic management throughout the year.
Within the framework of the study, traffic volume counts and turning movement surveys were conducted during both the summer and winter periods, in order to capture the significant seasonal fluctuations that characterize a highly touristic destination such as Rhodes.
Based on the analysis results, traffic signal plans were developed for 15 intersections. In parallel, final road design studies were prepared for all 27 intersections, including geometric interventions and operational improvements, as well as final signage and safety studies, aiming to enhance road safety, provide clear guidance to road users and reduce the risk of accidents.
