Traffic Consultant for the redevelopment of Athens Historic Center and the Pedestrianisation of Panepistimiou Avenue

This study formed part of a series of studies undertaken by Attiko Metro S.A. within the framework of the Redevelopment of Athens Historic Center and the Pedestrianisation of Panepistimiou Avenue.The purpose of this project was the development of a traffic model using the SATURN package in order to investigate and propose traffic management measures. The project involved traffic surveys, the development of a traffic model and investigation of the effects of the pedestrianisation and the development of With-Flow or Contra-Flow bus lanes on the two major parallel road axes. As part of the project, Panepistimiou Avenue (4-lane 1 direction primary road in the heart of Athens CBD) was developed for exclusive use of the Tram and pedestrians.
